NASCAR is like the WWE of racing there are multiple little stories within the race, teammates, owners, rivalries. I persoanally am a big auto fan period... I like cars and many different forms of racing (my favorite is American Lemans/SPEED GT). Naturally what drew me to NASCAR was the cars... I also like the drivers, various sponsors, and paint jobs found on the circuit.

After watching for a couple years you relize that there is alot more to it than cars going fast in a circle. The cars are so closely matched that each team must figure out what set up makes their car go faster than the next. What you end up with is 40+ drivers and cars pushing the absolute limit of the car/track on the verge of disaster. Quite entertaining...

What really got me hooked was picking out my favorite driver after watching with my friends for a few months, and of course going to my first race. It was a memorable experience and I've been a big fan ever since.

i guess its the same reason people actually have an interest in 10 guys bouncing a ball back and forth and tossing it through a hoop.

racing is the oldest form of competition known to man. the marathon was the 1st sport in the olympics. in fact i would say mankind is genetically wired to get somewhere faster than the next man. i would also say were wired to push technology to the brinks. it is why the wheel was invented. it is why the u.s. and ussr raced to put a man on the moon.

personally i love riding roller coasters. they cant build one i wont go on. some people dont like it though. i get a rush watching the beginning of the daytona 500 and the in car camera views that is similar to actually riding a roller coaster. i like the feeling of driving on an off ramp as fast as you can possibly go and that feeling of being on the edge of crashing. it is a thrill.

Ever read the tech section at NASCAR.com? About 40 minutes of reading will show just about anybody that "43 guys driving around in circles" is just about the farthest thing from the truth.

In this respect, the Europeans are eons ahead of us...they regard professional racers as pilots.

I'm not a JG fan (I am a Dale Jr fan) but I have respect for him and I like to watch him race.
