Default Greedy Bastards

I realize we have a "Greedy", thread, but this is about individual owner greed as it relates to ticket prices, what the players get and so forth.

The dallas @#$%ing cowfelons charge an average ticket price of $160 and take gate receipts of $112M with total revenue at $420M. The chiselers spend $143M on the players. But Mr Jones' franchise tops Forbes' value list @$1.8B. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2010/30/...ys_300988.html

The Skins only charge an average ticket price of $85 and take gate receipts of $85M with total revenue at $353M. The mizers spend $126M on the players. Mr Snider's franchise is 2nd on Forbes' value list @$1.6B. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2010/30/...ns_300925.html Not quite as greedy.

The unholy @#$%ing cheats charge an average ticket price of $118 and take gate receipts of $90M with total revenue at $318M. The cheaters spend $133M on the players. Mr Kraft's franchise is 3rd on Forbes' value list @$1.4B. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2010/30/...ts_307338.html

All the way down the list at #17, behind the Pack, the rats, the bucs and even the cats are the "lowly" Pittsburgh Steelers, they who possess 6 Lombardi trophies. Its just wrong. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2010/30/...rs_305046.html

reason #1 the owners dont wanna open the books to the union and players in negotiations.

really, i dont blame them.

after 75 years i'd say the rooneys deserve to make a nice chunk of dough.

i still can't figure out why the steelers didn't build the stadium to hold at least 70 K ....unless it was a budget issue.

The Rooneys have managed the team as much like a family business as could be imagined throughout eras of change. The fans respect them. The players respect them. They've done a marvelous job of keeping a great franchise together and profitable in a small market. They don't gouge the customers. They respect and pay the players. They deserve everything they make and more.

My reason for the post was the greedy bastards that rake the markets for what they will bear, and that will one day do to the league what the Steinbrenners of the world did to baseball.. Yeah, that's free market capitalism and right now the NFL is as socialist as it comes. But the state of affairs in MLB grinds me and I don't want to see that happen to the NFL. Seems inevitable though..

They could fit 5K or so seats by closing the gaps in the upper north end. That might have been the plan.

it just seems like a bad business decision that they didn't / haven't.
" if you build it, they will come " ....and give you money...lol

anyway given the long as wait for season tickets it just doesn't make sense not to capitalize on it......

The real crime is the way team unnecessarily keep building new stadiums and the way taxpayers and others have to contribute.

Why?

It's all within the rules that says teams have to share the profits from regular seats with the league in the pooled profit fund. They are allowed to keep the profits of luxury boxes. So every team has been trying to rebuild stadiums to have MORE luxury boxes so they can keep more of their money from the game.

Instead of wasting everybody's time and money, they could just change the rules thus allowing the individual teams to keep a portion of the regular seats...right. lol No...that makes too much sense.

i wouldn't say they unnecessarily build stadiums. concrete gets weak as it ages and becomes a safety hazard. cities are willing to spend taxpayers money on stadiums to keep the teams from moving because they generate revenue for city businesses which in turn supplies jobs to residents. the return out weighs the investment.
