Default Steelers Tix too pricey!

There is a hidden economy in football tickets. The fact is that teams price their tickets below market price. A 50 yard line seat might cost you 500 to 600 per ticket for one game. That's 8x$500= $4,000 for the season. The season ticket holder may have only paid 8 games x $150 per ticket = $1200. There is a difference of $4,000-$1200 = $2800.
That $2800 is not going into the steelers organization. It's going to goodfellas inc.

This is why seat licenses should be eliminated and a commodities market for tickets should be held each season. People who want to buy the tickets should bid for them on the open market.

Advantages:

You would sell out each game.
The steelers would earn more revenue
the overall price of tickets would drop.

Giants and Jets fans would leap at those prices. Pitt has always been pretty decent with their ticket prices compared to other franchises.

This whole PSL thing is what's killing the TRUE fan; the ones who helped promote the NFL.

If the Steelers want to keep the ticket prices artificially low, then they are subsidizing those that bought PSL's. Everybody else has to pay above market price for tickets. One way to alleviate this situation is to increase the stadium's seating capacity. This would mean getting rid of the blackout rule for television broadcasts.

NFL Teams keep their stadium seating at low capacity to ensure a sellout and lift the black out rule so that the game can be shown in the local market. If the game is not a sellout then you are expected to go buy a ticket or get NFL ticket. This rule might have been good in the 1970's. But the demand for tickets has greatly increased since then.

If you want to go to a steelers game, you have to pay goodfellas and company for inflated ticket prices.

I say let's bring football back to the fans not the opportunists.

I have no complaints when I pay $300 to see all the games every week in air-conditioned comfort in my leather recliners in from of my 50" Samsung on DirecTV with surround sound and DTR.

My tailgates start early though - - - bring beer.

I'll pay $120 for lower level seats at the 10 yd line, 5 rows back though. Tampa is cheap for me.

It is hard to get tickets except through ebay or ticketmaster and then you pay twice the amount. We went to a game and paid $200 for $90 tickets.

supply and demand people.. if the Steelers go 4-12 this season, you'll get some great deals at the end of this season and next season.. as long as they keep winning, people want to be a part of it. since the Steelers have such a large fan base, the demand will always exceeds supply.. at least when they are winning.
