One thing I hope all you Steelers fans appreciate is the value of a good rivalry. Its something us Hawk fans are lacking. We felt like we had rivalries with the Raiders and Broncos during the first few decades of our existance. But I am pretty sure the feeling wasn't reciprocated. I think we were too new, too geographically isolated, and we were too mediocre for too long to have any hardcore rivalry exist. And then we got plucked from the AFC and dropped into the NFC. I think that lack of a strong rivalries and history was the primary reason we got picked for that honor.
Since joining the NFC, I would say the closest thing to a rivalry we have is with the Rams. But again, I don't know if the feeling is reciprocated. And its not an easy drive to make it too each others stadiums to say the least. Its really too bad that we don't have good rivalries; it adds a lot more to the fan expereince IMO. Plus, a rivalry can provide some bright spots to a season when your team isn't playing so hot. The Apple Cup game between Washington and Washington State out here gets everyone so fired up even though both teams have been pathetic as of late. Anyway, I know you guys don't need someone telling you what to appreciate about your Steelers. Especially this year. Just thought I would add my .

Living in Cleveland, for me at least it's the Browns.I live around thier fans, and thier fans for the most part are shit.
I also have a strong hatred for the Ravens. And I am starting to hate the Bungles.

The Ravens: Can't stand Ray Lewis. Jamal Lewis is a thug-bum and Brian Billick is an arrogant prick that thinks he invented the game of football. The fans are not that bad. It's the team I can't stand. The Browns: Their fans are jerks but they at least stick by their team. Passionate fans that know the game. From talking to Brown fans once a year at Heinz and at the bars after the game, as much as I can't stand them, I give them credit at the end of the day. I don't have a problem with the players (Bryant is a jerkoff though) and the organization as a whole I don't mind. Basically, I just don't like Cleveland. I was bred to not like the Browns no matter what the case may be. It's just the way it's supposed to be. The Bengals: As I stated already. Chad Johnson and TJ talk and talk but never walk. Not against us anyways. Their coach I used to respect until he pulled his sour grapes rant and turned out to be a little girl. The fans, well, to keep it short and sweet, are complete jokes. A laughing stock so to speak. Zero respect for those people. I respect the talent they have on the team, but that's about it.

Do you guys still consider the Raiders as a rival? I know that we haven't exactly been worthy for the past three years, but we used to play some of the most kick ass games in the NFL. Both teams used to hate each other. I would love to see us rekindle that rivalry!

I've got to say... living and going to college in eastern, PA. I may have a hatred for our division rivals, but I loath EAGLES FANS!
They are some of the most uneducated and downright ignorant people in terms of football, you will ever meet. I hate to be stereotypical, but with the exception of one person I have never met an eagles fan I like, and they have a deep hatred for the Pittsburgh Steelers and their fans. But I also try and comfort these people by telling them, "Look on the bright side, you have the same number of rings as your franchise" With that said, my father is all about hating on the Ravens and he too calls them the old browns. I agree the Bungles are starting to play some ball and thats one of the reasons for my contention. Overall though, as a steelers fan you have to appreciate our division we have 3 solid rivals and thats something not many teams can say outside of maybe the AFC West as well. |

PLEASE let me be the first to cry "BULLSHIT!" to this utter nonsense. The Pats are 4th on our list of rivals at best, and the line about more Super Bowls for them in the next few years is almost laughable. If I were a Pats fan I'd be worried about just making the playoffs next year...
