Default question

I feel kind of silly asking this. I've been on the boards for 7(? I think) months and I feel like I should know this. what does the blue rep mean? and how do you give it?

However, despite that occurance that the same member might have a couple of good points, I am told to spread around the rep instead of giving it to who I feel deserves it. Also, what scale are we looking at for rep? I saw under my user CP that I got a blue? square. What does that mean? Is everyone on a distinguished road or whatever? Little more info and help needed before I cast my final vote.

I asked Mike the same question a few days ago about the blue square. Here is the message he sent me back.

The green square indicates someone has left you positive reputation.

The red square indicates someone has left you negative reputation.

The blue square indicates someone with under 50 posts left you reputation, but the reputation they give is balanced and doesn't hurt you or help you. Only members with over 50 posts can give positive and negative reputation.

I found this (above) in the announcement section. Hope it clears things up for you.
