American Cheese?...really?

I think American cheese has its place just like other cheeses do. Ever been to 5 guys, in n out burger? They use American cheese and I guarantee you their burgers would not, could not be better with another cheese. I rest my case.

I'm not a picky eater at all though, I'd probably never stock my fridge with American if my daughter didn't love it (more of a swiss and pepper jack kind of girl when it comes to normal cheeses) but I still think it tastes good.

There you go again hyping American cheese up with words like "like" and "good" when "accept" and "tolerable" are more appropriate. lol

Eat it by itself? You must have been hungry. I never said it was not edible but that any replacement is better so that means even if you enjoyed eating it by itself, you would have enjoyed eating mozzerella or swiss by itself better. lol

I eat it when I go out and they use it ...I'm not psycho but pay for it?...take it to the register? lol Nah...

If it is cost or a daughter i understand but nobody normal should PREFER American...lol.

I have not tried their burger. I've tried their pizza. Thanks for the tip. No matter how good it tastes, I'm sure it is nothing a Provalone couldn't do better. lol

Exactly my friend. I am still wondering whether it is a real cheese that they slice. Has anyone ever seen it in a block or do they only sell singles. lol Can someone buy a "block of American"?...lol

Today’s American cheese is generally no longer made from a blend of all-natural cheeses, but instead is manufactured from a set of ingredients[1] such as milk, whey, milkfat, milk protein concentrate, whey protein concentrate, and salt. When some of these or other substitutes are used, it does not meet the legal definition of cheese in many jurisdictions, and must be labeled as "cheese analog", "cheese product", processed cheese, or similar.

How embarassing if they are selling it around the world labled as "American cheese". People probably laugh or snub their nose.

Lol...that's fine. There are people who actually do enjoy the taste of it though. Like I said, sometimes I'll just eat pieces by themselves. It's good, and sometimes I'm in the mood for it.

Would I trade any run of the mill store bought cheese for a lovely Brie and a glass of wine? Absolutely, but any cheese you buy that is mass packaged and taken to a checkout line is subpar compared to what you can get in a gourmet store.

There are VERY few types of cheese I don't like. Feta being one of them (mostly because of smell). Some people are very picky and only like very mild cheeses like American though. It's absolutely not something I'd eat at a wine and cheese party or anything, but that doesn't stop me from grabbing a slice here and there or using it on grilled cheese.

Kraft sells singles of Swiss and have had other cheese flavors as well.

The military eats processed cheese...just so you know lol. And Cheeze Whiz is just delicious.

No wonder. I tried the Kraft sharp cheddar slices and they were terrible. That explains it. lol

I'll admit I like Cheeze Whiz...lol They must add some other flavor to it or someting.
