Just reading about Shane Boyd, a QB from Kentucky we signed off the street and packed off to NFL Europe . . .
From an article by Mike Carlson on NFL Europe scrimmages . . . Rhein's running game was useful, and that was good because QB Drew Henson (Cowboys) did not look sharp in front of the scouts assembled on the top row of the stands at the University of Tampa. Henson was 5 of 12 for only 37 yards and was overshadowed by both of Cologne's signal-callers. Kliff Kingsbury (Jets) looked assured while leading the team, but the revelation was backup Shane Boyd (Steelers), who has the most live arm of any quarterback on the day. There aren't many teams in NFLE this year that have good QB depth, but the Centurions may actually need to find Boyd some playing time Read his scouting report here . . . http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...ers/65069.html He sounds like an athlete who may have his best chance at another position in the NFL WR??? I know it's a complete long-shot but sounds just a little bit intriguing . . . could be our 3rd QB/ Slash type guy on offense . . . with a healthy dose of optimism thrown in . . . !!! |

-Only time will tell. And if he doesn't have the attitude of only wanting to be a QB instead of a team player. Hopefully he'll be opened minded about the prospect if the Steelers choose to utilize him like that.

And in the fifth round of the NFL 2006 draft. The Steelers select Michael Robinson, slash IV, out of Penn State!

2. Our roster is pretty full at the WR position, and I can't seem this guy making the team. They have the money invested in Ward and Ced, and a battle for the No. 3 wide receiver between Quincy Morgan (is he resigned yet? I hear it's only a matter of time) and Nate Washington. Sean Morey will still be on the team as a No. 5 WR and special teams ace. What does Michael Robinson bring to the table that Pittsburgh doesn't already have? I can't justify this guy making a roster spot and being active for every game over one of the five I just mentioned. 3. He won't be listed as a running back, either. Duce, Parker and Haynes (who will be resigned) give them everything they need in their running game. |
