VIP Pre-Party- worth it?

Hey All, I am new to the board but a life long Steeler fan and coming into town this weekend with friends for the Ravens game.

We are considering different pre-game options; tailgating, bar hopping, etc. and I came across some "VIP Pre-party" tickets being sold on most online ticket vendor sites. Located a couple blocks from the stadium, beer/food/soda is all-inclusive and it includes a meet/greet with former player(s).

Anyone have any details or opinions on these events? When does it start? What (ex) players show up? Food decent?

Other ideas for partying pre-game? Any "sponsored" tailgates where we can show up, pay our way in, and hang?
