Default Bright spots in today's game?

Just a few observations.

1. Mendenhall - Dude's proving that he's the real deal and definitely looks to be improved from last year. He's what I call a 'complete' back that can do it all, he has the big play ability and can also get those tough yards when needed. 70 yards and 2 touchdowns against the ravens defense is not bad at all.

2. Batch had all day to throw the ball - Offensive line did a hell of a job (minus the boneheaded penalties on the final possession). Pouncey had a few pancake blocks and mendenhall/redman did a great job picking up blitzers. Batch just simply isn't as good as Ben.

3. Red Zone scoring - 2 for 2 in the red zone. Big reason is because of mendenhall running hard.

4. Defense forced 2 turnovers - IMO, despite the D giving up the touchdown late, I can't blame the guys, they for the most part held their end of the bargain. The offense need to convert turnovers to points, especially when they happen at the opponents' 35 yard line..

5. Not our best performance but we still almost (should have) won - Respect when it's due, the Ravens are one of the top teams in the NFL, and pushed them to the limit despite playing sloppy. We made a lot of mistakes on both sides of the ball & special teams, and they still only won by 3.

oh yeah ryan clark knocking mcclain out of the game was sweet. not that i like to see people get injured but that's how you hit. we all know clark is a hard hitter but he's giving up a lot of size to the big man and he took him down hard

i disagree. even though they beat us today, i havent been impressed with Baltimore so far this season. they're defense showed up for most of today it seems but i still put a lot of that on our offense being too conservative. So far, this looks like its our division to take this season. with Ben back in the lineup from here on out (knock on wood) and our defense giving up a season high of 17 points, i think we are in for another great season.

I slightly disagree. I am not entirely sold on Mendy just yet. I'd like to see more decisiveness when he reaches the line. I thought it was a shame that Redman didn't get enough carries to help push the pile like Hillis of the Browns did.

2. Batch had all day to throw the ball - Offensive line did a hell of a job (minus the boneheaded penalties on the final possession). Pouncey had a few pancake blocks and mendenhall/redman did a great job picking up blitzers. Batch just simply isn't as good as Ben.

Yah but that was when they were dropping 8 in coverage. The TV coverage seems to never show it but I'd like to see just how tight the coverage was to see what Charlie was looking at.

3. Red Zone scoring - 2 for 2 in the red zone. Big reason is because of mendenhall running hard.

Against the Ravens, that is huge.

Yup...but too many 3rd and long conversions. At least it felt that way...

They are well coached and have a great D. Our offense looked bad but you got to give the opponent some credit for making us look bad. Special teams still scare me. I feel a few long returns coming this year. As for Reed, I can't blame him. Those were tough kicks. What do you expect when the offense can't even gain an inch.
