Default Vick Injured

Eagles' Vick leaves game vs. Redskins with rib, chest injuries
Associated Press
Published: Oct. 3, 2010 at 07:04 p.m. Updated: Oct. 3, 2010 at 06:09 p.m

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick left Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins with rib and chest injuries, and will not return.

Vick was seen on the sidelines after having X-rays in the locker room.

Vick scrambled for 23 yards on a first-quarter play, but he was sandwiched on a hard hit by two Redskins defenders and was slow to get up. Kevin Kolb, the Eagles' No. 1 QB when the season started, quickly warmed up and was in the game on the next play.

Kolb suffered a concussion in the season opener, allowing Vick to take over the job.

Vick's run was wiped out on a holding penalty by guard Max Jean-Gilles.

Vick was sensational as the starter. He had 750 passing yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions, and he also had run for 170 yards and one score in 10 quarters. For his efforts, Vick earned NFC offensive player of the month honors.

Vick was 5-of-7 passing for 49 yards and rushed three times for 17 yards against the Redskins.

Vick was a three-time Pro Bowl quarterback during six seasons in Atlanta.

Vick missed the next two seasons while serving an 18-month sentence in federal prison for his role in a dogfighting operation. His dazzling play and reformed personal image -- he tours schools speaking out against dogfighting -- has made him a fan favorite in Philadelphia. Fans bring signs touting "Vickadelphia!"

In Donovan McNabb's return to Philadelphia on Sunday, one fan made a sign that read: "Goodbye McNabb, Hello Vick-tory!"
