Default Coaching strategy question?

Considering the team would be 3-1 at worst, Ben is back tomorrow, going into a bye week, and having a strong schedule ahead...

Is it possible todays game was essentially a 5th pre-season game? A game that shows nothing, pure vanilla, yet tries to coax tendencies from the opponent?

Merit?

no , not for a division game. if they had something special they woulda broke it out. all though vanilla would be a good description of the D today ... i've just been calling it conservative.

No, not at all. This game was huge, esp Ben out of the lineup but it is what it is. Being 3-1 is a great start and even in the loss today, we showed a ton of good things during this first month.

However, our whole landscape changes and the format of this offense will drastically change and the ones who are going to benefit from Bens return will be the defense.

Teams have no tape on how we are going to attack in 2010 with Ben in the lineup, and with Mendenhall looking awesome and explosive, that'll drive defense's crazy and will treat Ben entirely different than Charlie Batch/Dennis Dixon.

We will be re-born.

This was a big game, but not a must win. It's the 4th week after all and we have won 75% of our games.

Show no tape. Give nothing away. Resume the "enigma" role.

Lewis spoke post-game about how well they executed their game plan. Good, maybe they showed something we can exploit next time. And above all, no injuries.

teams have no tape ??? I beg to differ, how many times have you seen that WR reverse, we run? Or the Hines Ward quick screen? Not about the tape it's about execution and discipline, whether teams know what we run or not, if we don't execute or be disciplined, we will not do well.

I think this team just wasn't ready to play the game. Everyone appeared flatfooted ... except Timmons who always seems to fly around. No, nothing was left on the table from a coaching perspective. They don't toy with any game, let alone a divisional game.
