Default Gerry Dulac's NFL Forecast: Week 6

Gerry Dulac's NFL Forecast: Week 6
Thursday, October 14, 2010
By Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Last week:
4-10 (.286)

Season record:
41-35 (.539)
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10287/1095055-213.stm

Cleveland Browns (1-4) at Steelers (3-1), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: Ben Roethlisberger's return won't matter. With injuries at quarterback and running back, it's going to be difficult for the Browns to score points against the Steelers, who have allowed a league-low 50.

Prediction: Steelers, 24-6

Seahawks (2-2) at Chicago Bears (4-1), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: The way the NFL has played out through the first quarter of the season, it would only be appropriate -- and not surprising -- if the Seahawks upset the Bears. But, after scoring just six points against the Rams ... nah.

Prediction: Bears, 24-3

Miami Dolphins (2-2) at Green Bay Packers (3-2), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: The status of Aaron Rodgers is uncertain after sustaining a concussion against the Redskins. But it might be the Dolphins who are still feeling woozy from their bad loss to the Patriots. Prediction: Packers, 23-16

Kansas City Chiefs (3-1) at Houston Texans (3-2), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: The Chiefs were the last of the league's unbeaten teams to fall, but just barely against the Colts. There was nothing indecisive about the Texans' 24-point home loss to the Giants. Prediction: Chiefs, 20-17

Baltimore Ravens (4-1) at New England Patriots (3-1), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: Right now, the Ravens might be the best team in the NFL, a fact not disputed by the Broncos. But Tom Brady has won 22 in a row at home, though he no longer has Randy Moss.

Prediction: Patriots, 24-21

Detroit Lions (1-4) at New York Giants (3-2), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: Say this for the Lions: When they break out, they really BREAK out. Doubtful, though, they will put up 44 points again against the Giants, who have allowed just 13 points in their past two victories.

Prediction: Giants, 31-7

Atlanta Falcons (4-1) at Philadelphia Eagles (3-2), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: Since an opening overtime loss to the Steelers, the Falcons have won four in a row. But they probably will face Kevin Kolb, not their former QB, Mike Vick, in this dogfight.

Prediction: Falcons, 23-21

San Diego Chargers (2-3) at St. Louis Rams (2-3), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: There might not be a worse road team than the Chargers, who are winless away from home (0-3) after winning two games in San Diego by a combined 56 points. And the Rams have won two in a row at home.

Prediction: Chargers, 27-17

New Orleans Saints (3-3) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1), 1 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: Go figure: The Steelers beat Tampa Bay by 25 points, the Buccaneers beat the Bengals by a field goal, the Bengals handed the Ravens their only loss and the Ravens handed the Steelers their only loss.

Prediction: Saints, 24-17

New York Jets (4-1) at Denver Broncos (2-3), 4:05 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: Once they complained about the Titans being dirty, it was a foregone conclusion that the sissy Broncos would have no chance against the big, bad Ravens. Same will happen against those nasty Jets.

Prediction: Jets, 23-17

Oakland Raiders (2-3) at San Francisco 49ers (0-5), 4:05 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: There is discussion about a new stadium being constructed in the Bay Area to house both the Raiders and 49ers. That would be the worst collection of talent under one roof since the Pirates clubhouse.

Prediction: 49ers, 17-16

Dallas Cowboys (1-3) at Minnesota Vikings (1-3), 4:15 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: Two desperate teams in desperate need of a victory. The Cowboys desperately want to erase the memory of last year's 34-3 playoff loss to the Vikings. And Brett Favre desperately wants to erase that cell-phone picture.

Prediction: Vikings, 27-21

Indianapolis Colts (3-2) at Washington Redskins (3-2), 8:20 p.m., Sunday

The Skinny: The Redskins don't score many points, but they haven't allowed many, either, in back-to-back victories against the Eagles and Packers. Can they make it three in a row?

Prediction: Colts, 20-16

Tennessee Titans (3-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2), 8:30 p.m., Monday

The Skinny: The good news for the Jaguars is they have scored 67 points in their past two victories. The bad news is they have allowed 120 points in their past four games. The Titans average 33 points in their victories.

Prediction: Titans, 33-30

if we don't beat the browns by at least 14 points I'm gonna be pissed. they are missing a ton of starters at key positions, we might as well be playing the backup squad of one of the worst teams in the nfl

Does the playoff game not count? Did Brady not start that game? Maybe he's won 22 regular season games there but I don't see why we'd keep those stats separate in this instance.
