They also could cut Chucky next week, if he is so good he would have been starting by know. I think they kept him around as insurance. It is really a wait and see the draft is completely different know than last week with the trades and signings. Young know will probably drop to Oakland, so who knows, I personally like the Carpenter kid.

No way...why bother keeping him, grooming him, publicly promising him the job, reworking his salary, just to cut him?

It would send a HORRIBLE message to not only the other Steelers on the roster, and any FA's looking at signing, but would basically tell every player in the NFL that the Steelers are snakes and will reneg on their promises.

They signed Chukky to a 2 year extention, so I think he's here to stay.

In this day and age were everything is all about the mighty buck, it's nice to see some one show unselfishness and take one for the team. That's mighty big of these guys.

Right on target ! rep points to you tony. Chucki has been around for several years for us, he's got some playing time but he's learned from one of the best in Jeff. Hartings' knees wont hold out forever but he's the anchor of our OL for now and Okobi will be ready.

Okobi will be our center and will be given his chance, who knew Hartings knees would hold up and that he would continue being a Pro Bowl center? I thin kwhat will happen is that Okobi will get more playing time this year and then letting Hartings go or retirement takes him and Okobi steps in. I dont see us even looking at Mangold or a center unless is late late rounds.
