As one news commentator pointed out, if they sell about 300 of the 15 x 20 canvas photos, it will equal Harrison's fine. |

Unfortunately I think everyone is over-reacting.
I don't know how anyone can play football if the Cribbs hit is an issue. They are opening up the proverbial Pandora's Box here. We are talking about millionaires playing for billionaires. The last I checked playing for the NFL is voluntary. |

Mark Schlereth goes off on the NFL and their hypocritical decision in the past couple days with Harrison and the other NFL 'hemlet to helmet' hits.

Very Hypocritical it was. 75K is extortion to the hightest power. Schlereth makes some interesting points. I love how the league quickly halted the sales of NFL hits.

if anyone has been noticing, this has turned into NBC vs ESPN.. the NBC analysts and writers (including the PFT douche bag spearheading everything) are all lobbying for these changes while the ESPN crew are all opposing it.

This is my opinion on the topic.
NFL football fans, including myself, like to say, ‘I don’t want to see players injured.’ But, indeed it is, and always has been, a part of the game. You can’t convince me that the NFL game isn’t just a small step down from the Roman Coliseum. Truth be told, the violent aspect is what has made the game a phenomenal success. Long before the forward pass became an important part of the modern game, people were sitting in stadiums across the nation watching the collisions. After all, water coolers were around in the 1950's. Witnessing real violence is very compelling. We are not so unlike the 50,000 people who used to gather in Rome, in the first century, to view the show. Don’t we enjoy rubbernecking traffic accidents on the highway? It seems to be inherent. I am not so naïve to think the NFL isn’t aware of this aspect of our natural tendencies. Why else would NFL.com and the NFL Network spend all Wednesday talking about, and showing the videos of the players who they levied fines against this week. In particular, the James Harrison hit on Mohamed Massaquoi was shown ad nauseum. Read More |
