Default Taking advantage of new hitting rules

If I was an Offensive Coordinator in this league, I love these new hitting rules.

This is what I would do.

I would bring in a professional stuntman and have them spend 2 days with my WRs and RBs and train them to make hits look "devastating"

I would make sure that the first series of plays are designed to ensure that their best defensive player is the tackler.

I would tell my WRs/RBs to make sure that the head is the first thing touched by the defensive player in making the tackle, even if they have to lower the head. And once contact is made, train our players to embelish the tackle, as taught during their two days from the stuntman.

After the first tackle, get up slowly. After the second - lay on the ground motionless for a minute and then twitch a little. Tell them that you are seeing unicorns and Puff the magic dragon.

I estimate this will give us a 50% chance to have their best defender get kicked out.

LEARN FROM SOCCER - fake those injuries and get their defensive players kicked out!

Or we could just continue to win honestly and hope this whole controversy passes or becomes less of a hot topic. That's what I'd do.

DY, I hope you know I was being sarcastic.

They are introducing more judgment into this and when you do that it can lead to abuse. Dunta Robinson hit was totally legal. Harrison had helmet to helmet because the offensive player lowered his head.

But in both cases, the players were fined because the players that were hit were injured. Whereas Mendenhall gets hits in the head and is fine and no call, no fine, no talk follows.

The introduction of judging what is a "devastating" hit will be a disaster for the NFL.

It actually makes sense to me, and had occurred to me as well...aside from the stuntman...hadn't thought of that LOL

Coach your guys to do this, and you could potentially take your division opponents' best defensive players out of the picture via suspensions and ejections. Don't think for a second that coaches around the league haven't thought the exact same thing.
