But, I believe that we end up with Missouri WR/RB/QB Brad Smith instead... I think Smith has much more upside and could fill ARE's roll in a year or two... The kid is an amazing athlete and would fit perfectly in Wiz's system... I am not sure Robinson won't even get drafted, I am not impressed with him at all...

Robinson is the most accurate thrower but he is tough, fast and does have a cannon. He would probably be a great receiver or even a tailback. I don't think he has the accuracy to be an NFL QB. (think Kordell Stewart) I do see him fit the "El" mold though....kickoff returns and 2nd - 3rd receiver...

I'm not sure about who the Steelers will draft as their new "Slash-type" guy, but I'm pretty sure they will pick one.
I'm curious, though. In the past, when they had KS, they'd always chose more of a pocket passer with their obligatory later round QB pick...since Ben is a bit of both, I'm wondering if they skip the whole pocket passer idea and just go with an athletic type to fill both the PR/KR/WR role AND 3rd string QB. |

I agree w/Suit. Why not take an athlete when one is available? Given the Steelers' use of gadgets and the play-calling and roster freedom an athletic college QB provides it seems like sound logic. Reps to you, Suit.

I say sign Robinson as a FA if he's available, but don't be afraid to cut him and move on if the guy can't hack it; we don't need a project. And we don't NEED a slashy gadget play guy; no sense drafting a guy for 2-3 plays a season. He has to be in there for a large % of the plays, or the gadget gets telegraphed.
I say for that reason the gadget mantle gets passed to Hines and we look for true recievers. Tom |

I think it'd be good for us to get the Slash type player, seeing as even though he'd only be in a few plays a year, the Defense would still have to account for those plays on every down. The Slash type player isn't there just for those plays, he's also there for the intimidation of the defense.

I like Robinson and have posted many times that I would love to see us get him. But only as a fifth round or later pick. If this other guy fits the mold better, that is fine by me.
