I wasn't posting here at the time of the draft, but I really wanted Pgh to
draft Blount out of OR. Yea, I know he has some anger issues, but I wanted a back with real passion and size and he had both. Not only did I want them to draft him if he was there late, and they didn't. TN did. OK. But then TN released him and now he is running wild for Tampa. He would have been the perfect fit for Pgh. I was very high on Dwyer, but he got hurt, was out of shape, but then did come on later in the preseason. I still think Dwyer could be a steal. But, man, when Blount was sitting there, as a free agent, I sure wish Pgh would have looked at him. Have you seen what he is doing? He even had a few nice rumbles vs. Pgh's D when we played. Blount is getting better and better. On one play last week he ran over a Card on his way to the endzone, on an other, he leaped over the same guy. Crap, I wish we had this guy. Could have had him for peanuts. |

I also had an inkling they were gonna pick him up, was calling for him all the up until they picked up dwyer. I guess they didn't want to take another chance bringing a questionable "thug" type player to a team when they just released holmes for being the dope smoking not-so-bright person he is. I want to see redman get his shot, for as much highlights as dwyer had for GT redman looked like he was playing with a bunch of middle school players during his 1a college days. Dwyer, unlike redman, has that deceiving speed, which we kinda saw towards the end of the preseason. Blount doesn't have that

Tampa has a need for him and gave him an opportunity. He would have never got that opportunity in Pittsburgh sitting behind Mendy and probably Redman. He doesn't really fit 3rd down back either. He'd probably just be standing around in street clothes on gamedays if he were here like Dwyer currently is.

I wanted him briefly too but after hearing more from him, I don't think he is a Steeler guy. He doesn't seem too bright and we know he is not a stand up guy. He is like a caged animal who may slip if success gets to his head. He is tame now but we'll see. He definitely has talent though.
I expect him to be good and I am happy for him. I just don't want representing us.

of Dwyer a lot. Check out his college highlights, and he was ridiculous. Yes, in a spread O, etc. which can alter how the play translates into the NFL, but still - I like him. He fights for extra yards after contact. But that being said: Blount is already NFL ready. He runs angry. I really believe we'd be better off with him coming on for carries than we are with Redman, RIGHT NOW. But, I understand the not wanting to risk potential thuggary after just cleaning house and, of course, the Ben debauchery as well. I get it. But I still wish they picked him up. He has been looking real good, real powerful. And I like his fiery 'tude. |
