Ike was asked to do something no Steeler since Woodson was, and he not only pulled it off, for the most part he excelled at it.
Ike was a "shadow back", meaning he didn't play just RCB or LCB, but he lined up against the best WR the opposing team had to offer, no matter where that guy lined up. To even suggest that a small college product picked up in the 4th round CAN be overrated is a little odd. Does anyone know that Ike was an offensive player in College? He was moved to DB in his Senior year, I believe. When presented with the facts, I'd say Ike is probably still underrated, even considering all the accolades he's receiving now... |

Keep Ike, sign him to a long term deal. If we can sign Ike, and sign Big Ben and Troy to long term deals, our core team will be together for at least 2 more years. Enough to hopefully be the first team in hostory to three peat.....

for the money he is making now, the man is underated
sign him now, because the steelers will never be able to compete with other teams for free agents. |

i don't think he's overrated, but he still has a lot of room to improve. he's young and he played great for this year so he'll be worth whatever he gets paid. he probably should invest in a jugs machine or wtfever it is called cause the dude has no hands at all, he dropped a few easy ints this year and if he improves his hands he'd be a ballhawk that we need. also if the F.O. wasn't sure about him i'm sure they wouldn't have put that high of a tender on him

Ike is not a "great" corner.. great is over used in sports and football is no different. That being said Im more than happy with him back there, he's come so far in the 2 years he's been playing CB and he's definately got such an upside that he can be something special if he continues to apply himself and improve. Sure he's still gonna get burnt now and then, he's young and learning..but I want him around for a long time in a Steeler uniform, he's definately a jewel in the rough IMO.

There are a ton of valid points for both sides of this. The best thing about him coming back would be he has room to improve, and he knows the defense. If he improves the sky is the limit.
On the other hand if he leaves and we get another first round pick, especially if it is a high pick, it would be fun speculating what we would get.

If a team liek the pats dont go after him, we will sign him in the summer. We are 16 million under the cap next year ... i think they will get him signed once all the dust is settled and cleared and a team doesnt go after him and give up first round pick.
