Roethlisberger set for surgery on nose; will play vs. Bengals
NFL.com Wire Reports Published: Dec. 6, 2010 at 09:55 a.m. Updated: Dec. 6, 2010 at 10:07 a.m http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...ce=twitterfeed Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will undergo surgery to repair a broken nose suffered in Sunday night's 13-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Monday. The surgery will not prevent Roethlisberger from starting Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to the newspaper. Roethlisberger broke his nose on Pittsburgh's first series. "Someone just came through and a hand got through my facemask," Roethlisberger said after the game. "The next thing you know, I feel blood running down my face." He spent much of the following series trying to stop the bleeding, and his jersey was soon spattered with blood. Roethlisberger, already playing with a broken bone in his foot, still went 22 for 38 for 253 yards. The rugged quarterback has won six straight starts against Baltimore and is 8-2 in his career against the Ravens. He missed the first game this season while serving an NFL-issued suspension for violating the league's conduct policy. "That's a Steelers-Ravens game, right? Hard-fought all the way to the end," Roethlisberger said. "Everybody contributes."

This dude is straight up FIERCE! I'm shocked the dude didn't pass out. That was THEE ugliest thing I've ever seen. Instead of putting in a tampon like Ms. Tom Brady would do, Ben goes back out there, stiffs arms one of the league's feared defensive players and wins the game yet, on a broken foot. What a competitor!

A lot of people called him soft after Richard Seymour punched him in the face, but you wouldn't have seen Carson, Tom, etc..... come back and play in this game. Ben is a beast!

Ben was never soft before lastnight, and if anyone ever accused him of being soft, after last night will see otherwise.

My hat's off to Ben. I don't know too many QBs who would have continued to play. He's a warrior, no doubt.

Of course the surgery won't stop him from playing, considering he played the very next series after breaking it!

I've never really understood the Ben is soft thing or that he's a drama queen etc... Since day one, I've only seen incredible toughness and determination from this guy. People also forgets that he has been consistently being beat up on behind a less-than-stellar offensive line for years now as well. The hits will eventually take its toll. Enjoy Ben while you can. He may not have a very long career.
