Besides Rod Woodson... I would have to say Hardy Nickerson, and Plax.

Nickerson is a great choice, and Plax would have been nice for one more season, but we did win the big one once he was gone, he seemed to be the last bad attitude in the lockerroom

My heart says Merril cause he was my dude when I was just a youngster comin up (and cause he shows those Steelers colors nearly every ESPN broadcast he is on).... but my brain says Leon Searcy. Any guy who can play that important of a position on a team that used to be called the Clevland Browns and go to a Super Bowl is pretty good in my book.

I would also like to have kept Eric Green, of the blow that is, he could have been the most dynamic offensive player we have had in the last 15 or so years. That guy was well over 280 lbs. and he could move well (he was the Levon Kirkland of offensive players)... Damn there is another one we lost who was pretty special.

Hardy Nickerson had a great career after he left...

John L. Williams was always a favorite of mine.

Ummmm...where's?

Chad Brown - that one hurt because he was entering his prime, was perfect for the 3-4, and I believe might have had a HOF career if he had stayed in Pittsburgh. Steelers had to choose between Brown and Greg Lloyd before the 1996 season and took a legitimate chance by signing Lloyd. They then saw Lloyd blow out his knee against Jax in the first game of the 1996 season, after which he was effectively done as a player.

I always thought the Steelers were too cheap to sign Woodson until I read Woodson went to the 49ers for less money because Cowher wanted to move Woodson to safety for 1997 and Woodson thought he still should play CB. Cowher had that one right.

good point. steelers mgmt. has always taken heat for letting him "slip" through their fingers.
