Default What should the Steelers do on Draft Day?

One of the previous posts displayed the draft classes during Cowher's tenure and I was not pleased to see the draft class we walked away from with in 1995 (Cowhers first Super Bowl trip).
Although things have gotten better with Colbert's influence, I will feel a whole lot better about our chance to repeat after a successful draft in 2006.
The Steelers have a total of 10 picks in this years draft. I cannot see more than 6 of those picks making the roster, let alone contributing on anything more than special teams and providing depth.
That being said, shouldnt the Steelers trade some of their picks and attempt to move up in the draft? Seems to make sense but the Steelers have traded up only once in the last couple decades. That was when they traded a couple middle round picks to move up 7 or 8 spots in the first round to get Polamalu.
That has worked out pretty well for us hasnt it?

Memo to Cowher and Colbert..... PLEASE BE ACTIVE ON DRAFT DAY!!!!!!!!!!

One of the problems though, is the fact that we got 2 picks in the 4th. We can't trade those away, so all we have to work with are our 1-7 picks. We might be able to move up in round 2, but we'd have to find someone willing to take our 2nd, 4th, 5th, (and maybe even 6th). Maybe the Cardinals, if I were them I'd want as many draft picks as possible, just to hopefully uncover some diamonds in the rough.

That could work Taz.... just a reminder though... we have three 4th rounders and two 5th rounders... your right we can only trade our original 7 though.

It would be nice to see them jump to around early to mid 20's.... you might be able to get a top 15 guy who experiences one of those draft day slides... seems like a good player goes through that every year.

Just dunno if a 3rd, 4th & 5th round package would move us up 10 spots?
