Stats for Parker in senior year of college and also his grading when was picked in fifth round out of Kent State in 99 draft.
Grading System Eugene Baker | WR | Kent | Mid-American Selected by Atlanta Falcons in round 5, pick 31 (#164 overall) Ht Wt 40 BP SS LS VJ BJ Grade 6'0" 167 4.46 - 4.03 10.96 36.5 10'2" 5.28 He is a tall slender WR that is much tougher than his body type would indicate. He is very dependable and will come over middle and is not afraid to take a hit. He has solid hands and rarely drops the ball and knows how to work the DB. On the NFL level, however, it is a fact that he will face more physical corners than he did in college and his ability to escape the jam and tight m/m coverage is a real question mark. He may be a guy that is pushed out of his routes and if that is the case, he will not be in the NFL very long. He must try to add a little size and strength to be able to compete, but his receiving skills are solid enough to make a roster. 1998 Receiving Statistics Receptions Receiving Yards Yards Per Reception Touchdowns 49 685 14 4 1998 Rushing Statistics Rushing Yards Attempts Average per Rush Touchdowns 15 2 7.5 |

Steelers Sign Wide Receiver Eugene Baker
Thursday, April 6, 2006 PITTSBURGH — The Steelers added depth at wide receiver today when they signed four-year veteran Eugene Baker to a one-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Baker (6-1, 167) was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round (164th overall) in the 1999 NFL Draft out of Kent State University. He spent four seasons (1999-2002) with the Falcons on both their active roster and their practice squad, seeing action in three games as a rookie and one in his second season. Baker had seven catches for 118 yards during his first year while starting one game. Baker then spent time on both the Buffalo Bills and St. Louis Rams practice squads before signing with the Carolina Panthers in 2003. In two years with the Panthers, he had two punt returns for 39 yards (19.5 avg.) and eight punt returns for 49 yards (6.1 avg.) while playing in a total of four games. He was in the New England Patriots preseason training camp last year but was released prior to the regular season. - www.steelers.com http://media3.steelers.com/article/63474/

What is he here for? is he known for being a KR/PR? or maybe a ST guy? or just depth? I was just looking at what they're saying about him in the post at Steelers.com, and the guy hasn't played for at least 1 year. He should room with Lee Mays, they appear to be cast from the same mold.
If this signing makes the Steelers consider the WR problem fixed, they better be HUGE on Wilson, Washington, and Morgan for the future.
