Default Randle El gets Big 10 trophy named after him...

Go figure...never exactly put ARE up in the class of Eddie George, Drew Brees, and others whose names grace this list....

From the link:

Quote:
A native of Riverdale, Ill., Antwaan Randle El was a quarterback at Indiana and played in the NFL. As a Hoosier, Randle El was the first player in NCAA Division I history to pass for 40 touchdowns and rush for 40 touchdowns in a career. Additionally, he was the first player in college football history to record 2,500 total yards in four consecutive years. In his senior year, the first-team All-American was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting. As his career ended at Indiana, Randle El was fifth on the all-time NCAA total yardage list. In 2002, he was drafted in the second round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. After being moved to wide receiver, he helped the Steelers win Super Bowl XL where he became the third non-quarterback and the first receiver to throw a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl.

He did have a great college career despite his average success in the NFL

Yeah, I loved watching Indiana just to watch him run the option.

I think the honor is well deserved. His overall career statistics speak of a man who is more talented than his time in the NFL would have you believe. It makes me wonder where he would be had he started at QB. It also makes me wish our OC would make better use of El's unique skill set - I can't help but to feel as though his talents are going to waste (ie sending him out to make a fair catch at the 10 yard line, or having him catch here and there on painfully standard pass plays). Oh well... I suppose that's The Arians Way!

I would say getting several key 3rd down conversions in the afc champ game, and tossing a beautiful td in the sb would count for above average...........
