I've never been one to buy into the whole "fire Ariens" BS.....but something's gotta give here. We've got to much talent on offense to squander it away with BS play calling. However, if Ariens needs to go then so be it.

Yes, I think he's got it right.
Maybe his "X's and O's" don't go with what others may think is right, but the idea of doing something differently is spot on. I for one am sick and tired of watching Mendenhall take a handoff and then stand behind the line like he's waiting for an elevator door to open. What bugs me most about Arians is that he seems to think that if something works once, it will work forever and he's not dealing with the realities of the League. Years ago, it sometimes took half a season or more for other teams to figure out how to stop another team. But today's teams "solve" offensive schemes seemingly overnight because there's so much specialization and they create player packages designed to address almost anything another team can do. But Arians seems to act like a kid who's hiding behind a little sapling as if it were a huge tree and thinks that no one can seem him there. The really good teams seem to be able to adjust to things not just at halftime but by the end of a series and if something doesn't work, they just turn to something else that does. But Arians just acts like a kid stamping his feet insisting that whatever he's doing is going to work and then stubbornly sticks to it despite having little to no success with it. |

The purpose of running successfully out of the I is to fool the other team into thinking that we might continue to do it... and then do something else completely, either an end around or a long bomb down the right sideline. UNLESS the other team is a top-5 rushing defense, in which case we will run it right at them every time.
Arians is obviously too smart for all of you. |

Arians passes on 3rd and short as long as its more than 5 inches. Anything thats successful involving a fullback formation, Arians scraps it.
Arians does show sparks of genius, but he isn't consistant. Its like "wow that was a really good play call" then "wtf, who would call that?" |

If he ran out of the "I" formation on 3rd down it might open up play action and how stupid would that be?
A point I don't understand quite that well is the use of Moore. Maybe Redman doesn't know the playbook, but he seems to be a better complitment to Mendenhall.
