I just wonder if they are looking at middle round RB's because Verron could see more time at FB... Kreider is no spring chicken anymore and Verron could be a nice pass catching threat as a FB... if Verron played more of a role as a FB we might need to draft a RB to give us a #3 RB.. that is a lot of speculation though, and if all remains the same as it was last year I just dont see a huge need at RB:
-Willie isnt going anywhere
-Duce has money owed to him for the next 2 or 3 years
-Verron has the backup FB and 3rd down back spots locked up
-Kreider is a solid blocking FB

The Steelers already addressed FB depth by signing Brandon Joe, who'll battle John Kuhn for the practice squad spot as back-up. This has been SOP for the Steelers the last few years.

I just don't see them signing any of these smallish scat back type dudes, regardless of round.

Here is a list of prospects that have visited according to Ed Bouchette...

Quote:
Among those who visited them this spring are running backs White, Laurence Maroney, Joseph Addai, Maurice Drew and Leon Washington; safeties Darnell Bing, Donte Whitner and Daniel Bullocks; receivers Demetrius Williams, Chad Jackson, Willie Reid, Jeff Webb, Akron's Domenik Hixon (a converted safety and good returner) and Ethan Kilmer, also a special teams ace at Penn State.

Also visiting Steelers' headquarters were a few outside linebackers such as Jon Alston of Stanford and John Busing of Miami (Ohio), and offensive tackles Daryn Colledge of Boise State and Willie Colon of Hofstra, none a top prospect.
