Default Clark not fined for hit on Edwards

looks like another dumb knee-jerk reaction from the officials because a Steelers player made a big hit. these bullshit penalties are going to come back and bite us in the ass during the playoffs. with our luck it will probably come during a critical scoring drive by the Patriots.

I was actually surprised by this one. Based on the criteria they have been using for evaluating these so-called "illegal hits", I thought that Clark would be looking down the barrel of a $20k gun come Monday morning.

Ed. B. of the P-G concludes that Clark not being fined indicates the league is acknowledging no flag should have been thrown in the first place

Ryan Clark was not fined for his hit last Sunday on Braylon Edwards, which means his hit was clean even though he was flagged for unnecessary roughness on that play which helped the Jets score a touchdown.

Had the penalty occurred the way Peter Morelli’s crew called it – leading with his helmet to the helmet of Edwards – he would have been fined for it. He also did not launch himself on that play.

I agree once again with Bouchette's take on how penalties are being miscalled since the October rules changes

the league has to give us a pass on at least one play......this makes it look as though "they're not out to get us". Since this was somewhat of a border-line play, this was a good opportunity to give us a pass.
Newspapers and sport shows all across the country have been reporting for weeks now that the league is biased against us. This is their chance to say "See...we're not cracking down on the Steelers".

It was a cheap call. And the problem with the league review and not fining, acknowleging there shouldn't have been a flag, doesn't help the situration that there was a flag that days letter can't be picked up. So the quick draw paranoid ref did cost us a TD and the game in the end. The whole review process during the game at times is a Pain in the butt, but if that is going to continue anyway and the league is going to continue to use vigilante justice with the fines, maybe it ought to be time to have a automatic review of flags on suspected leading with the head. A review would have picked up that flag. there have been some other ones that could have been picked up too.
