Default Cleveland game means more to Steelers

Cleveland game means more to Steelers

By Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

Sunday, December 26, 2010

The Steelers have plenty to play for next weekend.

With the Baltimore Ravens' 20-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns today, the Steelers (11-4) travel to Cleveland knowing they need to beat the Browns (5-10) to secure the AFC North division and the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs.

Even with a loss, the Steelers could win the division and a first-round bye if the Ravens (11-4) lose at home to the Cincinnati Bengals (4-11).

The Steelers could drop to the sixth seed and open the playoffs on the road with a loss to Cleveland and victories by the Ravens and New York Jets. The Jets play the Buffalo Bills (4-11).

The Bengals knocked San Diego out of the playoff picture today with their 34-20 victory over the Chargers. Cincinnati has won two consecutive games after starting the season 2-11.

The Ravens can finish the season no worse than the AFC's fifth seed.

The New England Patriots (13-2) wrapped up the top seed in the AFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with their 34-3 win at Buffalo. The Kansas City Chiefs (10-5) won the AFC West when the Chargers lost.

The AFC South will be decided next weekend, too. Indianapolis (9-6) wins the division with a victory over the Tennessee Titans. Jacksonville (8-7) takes the division with a win over Oakland and a Colts loss.

the Browns HATE the Steelers (we could care less about them anymore...our nemesis is the Ravens...) and they will be bringing all they have next week. It may sound like a joke, but they did beat NE and Colt McCoy is back and we had a slight bit of trouble with him the 1st time...he had a pretty good game for it being his first....and Peyton Hillis is a big strong back who carries and drags tacklers with him. We stop Hillis, we win.
We should win.......but don't take it lightly

I am glad the Ratbirds won on Sunday. Means we have to play our offense and hope they start to click a bit in the red zone. Playing in a meaningful game will keep us sharp , which we will need to go into the divisional round. Resting our starters for what amounts to 3 weeks (mini bye because of the Thursday game) could have caused us problems.

Regardles if who it means more too.lol

We need to win to get the home field and the bye, than hope the Pats get knicked off, which is not a reach right now. We need the rest that comes with it more than homefield, imo.

Ravens need to win just in case we lose, but also to try to get them a better slot. Both 1pm games so no one can sit back.
I think we have the opportunity to put the stains away early, and hopefully for a second time this year (raiders)we can just pound the crap out of a team. Early!

Brady, Manning now Rogers, we need an OC with a hunger to make a statement. Not one who wants to be on everyones xmas card list.
