Steelers' Woodley in midst of strong all-around season
http://www.profootballweekly.com/201...all-around-sea Posted Dec. 31, 2010 @ 8:53 p.m. ET By Mike Wilkening With no shortage of AFC outside linebackers having banner seasons, perhaps Steelers LOLB LaMarr Woodley has been lost in the shuffle. Woodley's teammate, James Harrison, is having an exceptional all-around season and was named a Pro Bowl starter for a fourth consecutive season, but Woodley's production shouldn't be overlooked. Woodley is an outstanding pass rusher in his own right, notching nine sacks. He has made major strides in coverage, too, intercepting a pair of passes. And Woodley's run defense continues to be a strong suit. Opponents have had little success running to their right — and even with rugged DLE Aaron Smith out of the lineup for most of the season, as a source close to the team noted. That is a credit to Smith's replacement, Ziggy Hood, and it's also a signal of how stout the 6-foot-2, 265-pound Woodley is against the run. |

Outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley tied a team record Wednesday without playing a game.
After a film review by Elias Sports Bureau, Woodley was credited with a full sack in the Steelers' victory Sunday in Cleveland, not a half-sack that he initially was awarded along with fellow linebacker Larry Foote. That means Woodley finished the regular season with 10 sacks, marking the third consecutive season in which he has registered double-digit sacks. The only other player in team history to do that is outside linebacker James Harrison, who has posted 16, 10 and 10 1/2 sacks, respectively, in the past three seasons Read more: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11006...#ixzz1AJAWDLNf Glad to see Lamarr get that sack to his credit.

I think the Steelers are fine with that. He's still not worth the Ben-Troy money he was seeking. He deserves a bigger salary, don't get me wrong, but him and his agent were demanding "Brinks truckload" type money. We'll see what happens in the off-season. We dont' think we can pay Ben, Troy, Harrison, and Woodley all mega-huge gigantic money contracts |
