Default How many Pounceys is enough?

I was thinking about the sorry condition of the steelers offensive line last night.
Adams probably won't be back next year, his best days are behind him. Left tackle is shaky too. Right guard can be fixed, and left guard and center is okay.
I think the steelers have to beef up the right guard spot and both tackle spots.

With that in mind, I took a peek at the OL talent in this years draft. And i looked at free agent OL. Even though this draft class is loaded with talent, Espaecially on defense, i didn't see a whole lot of good OL out there.

SOme of the mock drafts have the steelers selecting Pounceys twin brother in the first round. I'd like to see them get him, but not with their first pick. We should be able to get a real beast DL with the first pick, and hopefully Pounceys brother with the number two.

Free agency may not be the way to go because an OL needs time to gel. Why not use that "time" to develop a young guy?

This off season, the steelers are going to need to find two tackles, a right guard, and a couple beasts on the DL. Thats a big order to fill.

Either way, I hope we can get Pounceys brother at Florida in the second round. That would take care of the right guard thing.

But where ya gonna get two good OT's and two good DL.?

Who would you like to see the steelers get via free agency to fill the holes on the lines?

I went out of my way to watch 6 Florida games this season. And Mike is good, but he is NOT Top-Guard in this draft. He will go mid-2nd round at best. Probably lower 2nd or early 3rd round. I also saw those early Mocks. And most were just placing Mike as a Steeler first rounder JUST because we drafted his Brother. But the better college and draft scouts I have heard have said barring a GREAT Off-season workout,,,Mike Pouncey is NOT a 1st rounder.

Just as a side note.

Wouldn't it be funny if the Steelers picked up Ngata in the free agent market to beef up the DL?

I wonder how Ben would react to that. He'd have to wear a face shield every day in practice.

Thats why i think the steelers will take him in round two. The tackle spots worry me. Colon may do okay at right tackle, but left tackle and DL might have to be addressed in free agency. LT for sure, unless we get the best LT in the draft with pick #1.
That would be great, so would getting Ngata. He's a beast.

When need a LG too. Kemo is still playing at the level we hoped he would improve on a few years ago. He misses blocks when he pulls and when he is supposed to chip and roll. Pouncey, Round 1, LG beside of his brother.

I think MIke Pouncey will be a very good NFL guard and I have to disagree with you on where he will be drafted. Since we will be drafting 25th or lowerif we don't take him in the 1st he won't be there that late in the 2nd. Here is my reasoning as to why I think he is a late 1st rd pick:

He played guard up uuntil this season when he moved to center. This makes him more attractive to the NFL because he can play two O L spots well. Secondly, the scouts in this league and the teams will look to Maurkice and figure the mike has the same character and work ethic as his brother, who is pro bowler as a rookie.

These factors in addition to playing at Florida will have him drafted in the lower 1st round. IMO.

I might agree that Mike won't be around in the late stages of round 2. But that does not mean he should be taken in the late 1st either, cause that would be a reach. Ever hear about trading down several spot, get other picks, and then select him ?

They may well be able to trade down get more picks and take him, but whether its Steelers or not he will be drafted in the late 1st round. Players with his ability and character are hard to find.
