(DAILY RECORD / SUNDAY NEWS -- BIL BOWDEN)

York, PA - Sean Brame received a special Christmas gift when an anonymous donor gave him two tickets to a Pittsburgh Steelers game last month.

It had been a dream of Brame's to see his favorite team play at Heinz Field.

A man in a tuxedo handed an envelope to Sean's older brother, Patrick, as they were leaving a formal gala for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA last month.

"These are for you and your brother," the man said. "Merry Christmas."

Sean, 14, of Newberry Township, had been a guest speaker at the event, sharing his story about his multiple amputations after contracting sepsis through a sports injury, said Debra Barry, a spokeswoman for the organization.

His family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House for months, she said.

The freshman at Red Land High School is such an avid fan of the Steelers that he got tattoos of the players on his prosthetic legs around Thanksgiving.

The two tickets for the Dec. 23 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Carolina Panthers were up for auction during the gala.

Sean's mother, Carol, bid on them, knowing how much Sean wanted to attend a game.

But the price kept getting higher, and eventually she stopped bidding. It was too expensive.

The tickets sold for between $400 and $450, Barry said.

The boys didn't know the tickets were inside the envelope the man handed to Patrick until they opened it in the van, Carol Brame said.

"It was a great Christmas gift," Sean Brame said.

Prime Time Tickets, which had donated the tickets for the auction, later gave another one to the boys' father, Michael, so he could attend, Barry said. The boys received Steelers jerseys to wear to the game, too.

Sean Brame said he loved being at the game. He could see the players and got more of a feel for the game.

He's been to collegiate games, but there's a different type of energy at an NFL game, he said.

And he got to hear his brother -- a Philadelphia Eagles fan -- cheer for the Steelers.

The Steelers won, 27-3.

"I would definitely do it again in a heartbeat," Sean Brame said.

The teen will be cheering on the Steelers Saturday as they play the rival Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs.

Sean Brame said he knows the Steelers will win "because we're Pittsburgh. We got that Steel Curtain."
