Steelers rookie thankful for 'great catch'

PITTSBURGH - It may be old hat for Ben Roethlisberger to pull off a late-game miracle, but it was a new experience for Steelers rookie Antonio Brown.

With the game tied 24-24, 2:07 left on the clock and the Steelers in deep do-do with a third-and-19 at their own 38, Brown was called to do a deep fly route down the right side.

Roethlisberger dropped back and cranked the ball 50-plus yards into the air and against the wind and into the waiting arms of Brown, hitting him in stride at the Baltimore 12-yard line.

His momentum carried him out at the four.

"It was a great play, great throw and great read by Ben," said Brown, a sixth-round pick from Central Michigan who in nine games during the regular season caught 16 passes for 167 yards.

"The DB (Lardarius Webb) kind of set. I got behind him, it was a great throw by Ben and I was able to make a great catch."

Was he the primary receiver on the play?

"Everybody was No. 1," Brown replied. "It was third and 19 and we were able to convert. I'm just thankful he trusted in me and put it on me."

When the ball was on its way down and into his arms, Brown, who had three catches for 75 yards on the day, didn't get caught up in the moment.

"I gave it my total focus and total concentration," he said.

"I just wanted to look it all the way in and make sure I made the catch. Once I had the catch I wanted to stretch it to the end zone but I was a little far back. But it was a great third-down conversion and then Rashard (Mendenhall) took it in."

And less than two minutes later, the Ravens were down and out.

Congrats to him, he seems like a fine young man with a good attitude and a good head on his shoulders. Looking forward to seeing him develop into a great receiver for us.

This receivers core looks like Indy's when it was marvin harrrison, reggie wayne and stockley. If the steelers can win the title this year, their offense might be better next year..

the kid definitely stepped up big. what I like about both sanders and brown, is they are both hungry to prove themselves and want to play. I don't see them hitting the rookie wall this year

I think I speak for all Steeler fans and say "Thank you, Antonio." Just a great catch. We got a talented young corps with Antonio, Emanuel Sanders, and of course Mike Wallace. Just an amazing catch he made.
