Default NY Post Trying to stir the pot

Not doing a very good job of it, but they are trying:

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/...86wucaiTDjy9CK

Quote:
Steel City became Snob City yesterday when the snooty Steelers offered to let the poor, little Jets kiss their six rings.

Asked if he expected the Jets to keep their run of trash talking alive going into Sunday's AFC title game, Pittsburgh safety Ryan Clark instead haughtily offered up a history lesson.

"The only storyline we have is six [Lombardi] trophies, and we're trying to get another one," said Clark, a former Giants player who was not even alive when the Steelers won four of those Super Bowl crowns in the 1970s.

An implication of Clark's comment: Why should the Jets -- relative paupers with their one, measly championship 42 years ago -- even bother to question the mighty Steelers franchise?

Rest assured Rex Ryan and his players will take note of Clark's not-so-subtle putdown and make sure it winds up in the Jets' locker room before this weekend's playoff showdown at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.

And if the typically chatty Jets have anything to say about it, Clark made it clear that won't be his problem.

"I don't know [and] don't care," he said when asked if he expects brash talk from the Jets like the rhetoric that flowed before Sunday's 28-21 win over the rival Patriots. "They had storylines in the other places. There's not good storylines with us."

But that's not exactly accurate. Linebacker James Farrior, an ex-Jet, said after the Steelers' divisional win over the Ravens on Saturday he hoped his old team would advance to the title game instead of New England.

Not only did a Jets win mean the Steelers would play host to the title game instead of traveling to face the Patriots but they are still smarting from the Jets' 22-17 win in Pittsburgh last month.

When you throw in Jets wideout Santonio Holmes' return to the Steel City with a chance to go to the Super Bowl on the line, Clark's "no storylines" claim comes off as just plain wrong.

"I'm hoping it's the Jets," Farrior said immediately after the Steelers' comeback win over Baltimore.

Rookie center Maurkice Pouncey was not as insulting as Clark when providing his take on the Jets, but he said any words from Florham Park would go in one ear and out the other in Pittsburgh.

"We don't pay attention," Pouncey said. "It don't bother us at all. Let them talk."

Ryan indicated his respect for the Steelers and coaching counterpart Mike Tomlin would probably limit any taunting from the Jets' side this week.

But it will be interesting to hear what happens once Bart Scott or Antonio Cromartie gets a whiff of Clark's snobby reference to a host of trophies won long before Clark was even in diapers.

They're just under the train of thought that if the Jets don't have outside motivation to win the game, they won't win. I think the general public has the consensus that The Jets have nothing left after an emotional game.

Just a fishing trip. I saw the press conference, he in know way was being disrespectful, in fact he was responding to a reporter that seemed to be digging for trash talk.

Here's the press conference:

If we don't beat them somehow, I will be devastated, not just because we would lose our shot at another SB but because I CANNOT stand losing to this team and their arrogant, idiotic media, players, coaches, and fans who are so insanely full of themselves. I don't think I could take listening to this kind of stuff for another two weeks, and God help us all if they went on to win it all.

Seriously, I mean I know their are some intelligent and reasonable Jets fans out there, but ever since Rex Ryan became their coach everything about their franchise is just disgusting and classless, from the franchise itself to the NY media to their bandwagon fans.

PLEASE GOD let us shut them up Sunday.

Sorry to rub it in Pete :-)

He said Ryan's positive appraisal of the Steeler's organization is equivalent to him "kissing our 6 rings"... lol...
