Default Jets getting injured

Well I've been listening to Football Today and a listener asked a question where Jets would get "injured" and allow the Jets to regroup. An example was that when the Patriots were moving down the field, Bart Scott got "injured" and Phil Simms said that let's see if he comes back in and sure enough he came back the next play. Thoughts by Steelers and Jets fans.

Doesn't the team with an injury waste a TO though (injury TO)? I've seen this happen when teams still have TO's left...why wouldn't they just use that. I could see doing this if you were out of TO's, but if they're just going to take one away from you for an injury, why fake it?

I could be completely wrong...I can't remember how it works.

It seemed quite blatant during the Jets-Pats game. At least twice a Jets player was laying on the field and they had to stop play, then he's back in one play later. I think it was more than twice. Just when the Pats were getting momentum. The Pats fans starting booing after awhile they knew what was going on with these Jets "injuries". The announcers were even arguing whether the Bart Scott injury was fake, one thought it was.

I don't think the Jets get charged with a timeout if it's in the middle or beginning of the half.
It worked against the Pats and I expect the Jets defense to come up with these phantom "injuries" against the Steelers too. The only thing that will stop this is a change in league rules, such as the injured player has to leave for 4 plays instead of 1.

maybe rex can use harbaugh's fake red flag trick also, mix it up a little for free time outs..

Also you only use a time out when its after the 2 minute warning I believe.

The Pats invented this tactic to stop the Colts hurry up offense, now everyone does it. Pats fans just want to whine about it because it came back to bite them in the butt.

They don't lose a TO unless it's the last 2 minutes of the game I believe.

Ok...that makes sense then. I thought I remembered teams losing TO's because of injuries, that must be when.
