With their second compensatory pick in the fourth round, the Steelers added a day one talent in University of Miami's Orien Harris. He's also the first Cane' drafted by us since Leon Searcy in 1992.
![]() Orien Harris School: Miami-Fl Pos: DT Ht: 6-3.5 Wt: 301 40: 5.27 Year: 5Sr Bio: Three-year starter and previous All-Conference selection who totaled 37/10/3.5 as a senior after 39/12/1.5 the prior year. Pos: Athletic lineman plagued with inconsistent play. Gets leverage on opponents, explosive off the snap and fluid changing direction. Makes plays down the line of scrimmage, is rarely off his feet and possesses a short burst of speed. Flashes hand technique, power and wedges between blocks. Neg: Does not consistently play with a sense of urgency. Lacks bulk, slow shedding blocks and cannot hold the point against double teams. Analysis: A vocal leader known as a team guy, Harris has starting potential at the next level if he produces on a consistent basis.

Sounds like possibly another pet project for Coach Cowher and Coach Whiz! They did pretty well with Trai Essex and his poor scouting writeup. He stepped in when needed. Granted, he blew a few blocks and has a few offsides penalties on his resume'...but overall he did fairly well for a rookie last year when he needed to fill in.
I think he will do alright with proper guidance and mentoring. |

Harris is a DT, so Whiz wont have much to do with his coaching i dont think.. He seems alright and has decent size... If ****ie L likes him .... then have to go with him and feel he was best at position at the time.
