Cedric Humes
Height: 6-0 7/8 | Weight: 227 | 40-Time: 4.73
Strengths:
Has excellent size...A powerful and bruising runner...Good athletic ability...Hits the hole fast and with authority...Breaks a lot of tackles and is a load to try and bring down...Good short yardage and goaline runner...Solid blocker...Decent receiver out of the backfield...Versatile...Hard worker & team player with good intangibles.

Weaknesses:
Was never the full-time workhorse in college and didn't show whether or not he can carry the load...Does not have great speed...Doesn't change directions all that well and is basically a north / south runner...Is not a big play threat...Might have some minor durability concerns...A bit of a 'tweener without a true position.

Notes:
Could potentially move to fullback at the next level...Ran for 752 yards (4.6 avg.) and 11 touchdowns as a senior for the Hokies...Might be a sleeper who could develop once given the opportunity to be the main ball carrier for a pro team.

Pros: A slashing type of runner with the ability to run through tacklers and enough speed to get outside. He can be a strong finisher with the body lean, strength and toughness to make the most of each carry. Has a big upside as a power back. Has a powerful frame to run over tacklers while taking no prisoners once he squares his shoulders. He runs with a crouched style, getting full use of his fine lower-body strength to move the pile and gain the tough yardage.
Cons: As a receiver, he made nice progress over his career, displaying soft hands and a good sense of route-running, but his experience was limited by lack of playing time over his entire career. He lacks the speed to be a breakaway threat after the reception, but he is an accomplished pass-catcher , which will help him if he ends up converting to fullback. Has all the makings of a starting NFL feature runner, if he answers the injury questions and proves durable as a pro.
Numbers: As a senior, he played in 12 games with 162 carries for 752 yards and a solid 4.6 yards-per-carry average for 11 TDs, with 10 receptions for 71 yards. Over his career, he scored 21 rushing TDs and caught 29 passes. At the Combine, he ran a 4.65 in the 40 with a 30.5-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot, 10-inch broad jump. He did 18 reps in the lifting and was adequate in drills.
Skinny: He will compete for the third-down back role early in his career. Honest runner with the athleticism and intangibles to become a nice surprise in the NFL and an excellent middle-round value with the potential to become a starter in time.

http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2006/humes_cedric not much of a report on him. this is it.

Cedric Humes
Height: 6-0
Weight: 227
40 Speed: 4.68
Position: Running Back
College: Virginia Tech

GIL BRANDT'S ANALYSIS
Humes had a complete workout at the Combine, running two 40s in 4.61 and 4.75. He had a 30?-inch vertical jump, an 8-foot-10 long jump, a 7.06 three-cone drill and did 18 lifts. Humes played running back and linebacker in high school and also lettered in basketball and track. He rushed for 1,640 yards and 22 TDs as a senior. He redshirted in 2001, played fullback in 2002 and didn't start in 2003. He started three games in 2004 and nine in 2005. He's a big, strong inside runner, a good blocker and short-yardage runner. His best position may be fullback.

This guy sounds like he may be really good - IF he can learn

Cedric Humes RB Virginia Tech

Strengths

Cedric is a big, strong, powerful RB with excellent speed and quickness. When he concentrates and hits his holes, he is almost impossible to stop. He shows quickness to the hole and just enough of a wiggle at the line to burst through and gain some big time yardage before two or three guys can stop him. He has quick feet and good balance to take a hit and not have it affect him. He is a punishing runner and likes to put a hurting on the person who tries to tackle him. He shows decent hands out of the backfield on swing passes, which will make him effective on third downs also.

Needs to Improve

The only thing stopping Cedric is Cedric. He is a tough kid and will play hurt, but he lacks the instincts and recognition skills at this point of his career. (That?s a nice way of saying that he's not too smart on the field).

Bottom Line
Cedric has a lot to learn about being a RB at the next level. He needs to learn how to block a blitzing LB and read defenses on the run so that he can change his route out of the backfield on an important third down situation. He has to get serious about learning his playbook. Cedric has to understand that he plays an important position. He has to learn that being a RB is not just about running when someone hands you the ball. He has excellent raw talent, but is so far away from understanding his role in a team situation that it will affect the round in which he is drafted. That's a shame because the kid has the athletic talent to be a franchise back; however, he has to get a whole lot more serious about learning his craft. He seems like a good kid and certainly worth being picked in this draft, but you are going to have to think about his length to impact (LTI) and I would think that the third or fourth round would be about right. The raw talent is there. The question is the work ethic, heart and instincts!

Hmm doesnt seem bad at all for a 7th rounder... he doesn't run like he's 233lbs, seems quicker, cuts nice too... though in the highlight video i didnt really see him run over anybody to be considered a "bruiser", but we'll see won't we!
