I give the Steelers an A throught the first 5 rounds. They addressed a lot of positions with some really good picks. Holmes will be the burner and field stretcher we need. Along with Willie Reid we shold be doing really good on return specialists. Antwaan who? Anthony Smith was a surprise especially with Bing still on the board, but hes good speed and hands, blitzes good but he'll be another Hope cuz hes not that good of a tackler time will tell. I see why Colon was drafted hes very versatile in he can play damn near all the positions along the line hes a project. A big HELL YES on Orien Harris, he doesn't have the size but he makes up for it with strength and he has improved every year hes played could be really good against the run. The fifth pick in Jacobs was a definite shock hes strong sits in the pocket till the last minute but everyone says his tech nique is weird he throws like hes shot putting, but hes got the size and strength. Davis and Phillips I'm out on, don't know to much about them, didn't see us going after a TE but there really wasn't to much to brag about with available OLB's. Steal of the day and I'm surprised he was there in the 7th was Humes he can move the pile and what we need for goal line situations.....Good Draft.....B+

I gave a C because we drafted at 32 and we went out of second round. Is hard to tell at the moment, but I dont think we drafted anyone who is going to give us an immediate need since we dont have one. Holmes may be good for 20 catches this year but i cant really jump up and down over it because we are still a run first team and i cant see us being like the Colts at any point in the near future. I dont mind the picks.. just not overly excited about them except for the Humes pick, i liked that alot and since there isnt much competition for him, i think even being a 7th round pick he will make the team and we could see him get in the end zone a few times this year.

I think it is an "A" for sure. Trading up to get Santonio was the steal of the draft. I love the pick of Anthony Smith, he is exactly the type of safety we need.

With few possible openings on the roster, obviously trades had to be made. Trading up for Holmes was great.....I would have liked to see them not trade away their second round but obviously they didnt have anyone really high on their board. I would have liked to see a CB drafted too, but Jacobs should learn well as the third QB and Humes was an excellent 7th round value

I forgot about Harris from Miami.....he should be a welcome addition to the DLline for many years......all in all though a B for this draft..........but the real grades can only come in 2-3 years down the road!

Len Pasquarelli of espn.com (who grew up in Pittsburgh) thinks it was a good draft, so my misgivings hopefully are misplaced.
"We're not into grading drafts anymore, thankfully, but if we did, the Steelers certainly would be near the head of the class again. It's not that they're rich that allows them to get richer every year in the draft. There just smarter, and better, at it than almost every other team in the league." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft0...len&id=2428160 |

We drafted the tackle to replace brooks who is the OG/OT we have on our roster right know and who is agging, they want to get more youth on the line
I think all in all this is a great drat hopefully we'll land nance as a ufa and bring in some Cb's and Lb's to fill up the roster openings. Still a bit confused on the pick of Reid but what do i know. |
