I believe you mean an improvement in the helmets? If so, the helmets are still the same but if you notice some goalies wear a plastic extension on the lower part of the mask to protect their throats (Patrick Roy before he retired for example). It's hard to see Roy's in the picture below because it is clear, but it is visible.

The Indy car wreck, where sports Illustrated had the action pictures and you could almost see the legs being amputated, meat everywhere. SICK

the fact that he stepped on it again after practically shearing it on the base made it that much more painful to watch. i had never seen the pictures of the goalie getting his throat cut. that was hardcore.

I was at a high school hockey game once and saw a goalie take a puck to the throat.

I remember a high school football game where the reciever dove for a ball and came down on his head.

Joe Theismans leg
Forget who it was for the Pirates, I think it was Jason Kendall a couple of seasons ago, he broke an ankle.

anyone watch hideki matsui break his wrist last night? nothing compared to what has been listed but it was pretty painful looking. caught the dude breaking his nose on the outfield wall in the highlights. again, not to bad but a little bloody.
