Default Who did the most for the Steeler organization?

I am curious to test the Steeler knowledge of the the great Steeler Nation...so, what player in your opinion has done the most for the Steeler organization? It can be in any capacity from any decade for any reason. What you all got?

My opinion is Ernie Stautner

He was drafted in 1950 and endured fourteen years with the sub par Steelers...but he never left. He was named to 9 Pro Bowls, was an All-Pro four times (1955, 1956, 1958, 1959) He retired as the all time leaders in safety (3) and third in fumble recoveries (23). The key to my argument? He is the only Steeler to have his number retired in our entire history.

Mean Joe Greene : key to my argument lead the Steeler Curtain to 4 Super Bowl titles, best dt in nfl history, lead the franchise out of the dark

Ernie is a good one but Mean Joe Greene helped anchor the Steel Curtain and coached and mentored many a player for the Steelers for years after his playing days were over!

I would have to say the key player that started the dynasty and set the tone for how Pittsburgh was going to orchestrate what brand of football was going to be played here was obviously Mean Joe Greene.

However, you can't have that kind of success without the guys behind the scenes & the most respected people and owners in ALL OF SPORTS: The Rooney Family, notably The Chief and Dan. I mean, come on, 3 coach's, all Super Bowl winners, in how many decades? The Rooney's are loyal to their coach's and staff and set the mood on what they expect the players to stand by and also do business fairly.

It ALL starts with the Rooney family.
