Watching old QB challenges, with Ben

Anyone else check out the old QB challenges on NFL Network
the last few days? They had some with Ben, following his rookie
year. I swear I heard him say something that I must have imagined.

But as an aside, these guys were throwing the ball 65-73 yards. How
far can you throw an official NFL football? Boomer was claiming, in a
game, he can throw the ball 80 yards. He is full of crap. He can't throw
a ball 80 yards, in a game or not. No way.

65 yards is very believable. 80 is full of shit coming from Boomer.



Here Ben lets go of the ball from his 39 and it lands in Wallace's hands at the 5 (it would probably the 3 if Wallace doesn't catch it). That's about 60 yards right there in itself. I'm sure if he were throwing in a straight line he can manage a 65-70 yard pass.

jamarcus russel could prolly throw it 80 yards. problem is he'd also throw it 15 yards away from the intended reciever

Boomer is full of shit. He couldn't throw 80 yards if his life depended on
it. Generally speaking, the average-arm strength (relatively speaking for starting
NFL QBs) all throw for around 65 and those who are built to really bomb it go for low 70s, every year. I think I'd be pushing it to toss it 50. And even then I'd probably
pull something.

What a waste. He would also be getting his "purple drink" on.
He has got to be among the very worst busts of all time. Even
Ryan Leaf was the _2nd_ pick over all and not the first, so
he beats Leaf out for being a bigger bust.

Michael Vick and Randall Cunningham are probably the only two QB's I've ever seen who can throw a ball 80 yards.

Kent Graham (worst pick-up of the new century) threw a very hard ball, as did Kordell Stewart but it doesn't mean jack without accuracy. Jeff George was one of those type players that fumbled the ball since he was one of the better pure passers and one of the best long balls to boot but just couldn't put it all together. Didn't he want to return to the NFL at some point last season?

George's problem was that he was immensely stupid. His physical skills
were freakish - especially how strong his arm was. It was like a trip hammer.
He could just flick his wrist and send a rocket like no one else could. Didn't
even need to wind up.
