Default For Stat Geeks

For the stat geek that is in me I always like following which players are moving up on our career stat lists. Trust me I don't think stats are the most important thing in judging a player. If that was the case Peyton Manning would be the God in football cleats that all Colts fans think he is. I just do it for fun.

Ben Roethlisberger with his 34 career passing TD's is 10th alltime on the Steelers most TD's passes in a career. The nine QB's ahead of him are. Ben has averaged 17 TD passes his first two years if he throws 17 again that would put him in a 7th place tie with Bubby Brister.

1. Terry Bradshaw-212
2. Kordell Stewart-70
3. Neil O'Donnell-68
4. Bobby Layne-67
5. Jim Finks-55
6. Mark Malone-54
7. Bubby Brister-51
8. Tommy Maddox-42
9. Mike Tomczak-37

Ben Roethlisberger is currently 11th alltime with 5,006 passing yards on the Steelers career passing yards list. Ben has averaged 2,503 passing yards in a season his first two years. If Ben throws for 2,503 again that would put him in 8th place with 7,509.

1. Terry Bradshaw-27,989
2. Kordell Stewart-13,328
3. Neil O'Donnell-12,867
4. Bubby Brister-10,104
5. Bobby Layne-8,983
6. Jim Finks-8,854
7. Mark Malone-8,582
8. Tommy Maddox-7,109
9. Mike Tomczak-6,649
10. Ed Brown-5,821

Ben Roethlisberger with his 2 career 300 yard passing games is tied with Mark Malone on the Steelers alltime list. Tommy Maddox with his 6 300 yards passing games is the Steelers alltime leader. So I really hope the Steelers do throw more. I don't want Tommy Turnover being the alltime leader for us in anything.

Hines Ward with his 52 career TD's recieving is 2nd alltime. John Stallworth is first with 63. Hines has a chance to tie or pass Stallworth this year. The Steelers top five are.

1. John Stallworh-63
2. Hines Ward-52
3. Lynn Swann-51
4. Buddy Dial-42
5. Louis Lipps-39

Hines is second in career recieving yards with 7,030 but is almost 1700 yards behind Stallworth. Its safe to say Hines won't be catching John this year.

Joey Porter is 6th alltime on the Steelers career sack list with 53. The five guys ahead of Joey are.

1. Jason Gildon-77
2. L.C. Greenwood-73.5
3. Joe Greene-66
4. Keith Willis-59
5. Greg Lloyd-53.5

Yea our list of QB's is scary. Thats why I hope Ben continues to blossom and moves past alot of these guys. Way to early to tell if Ben will ever approach Terry Bradshaw's career records.

I see Ben just destroying some records. Bradshaw never got to throw as much as Ben will have a chance to. Plus starting as young as Ben has, look out

I agree with you about Ben destroying some records if given the chance. I really think he has a shot to break Terry Bradshaw's single season TD pass record of 28. Ben led the NFL in TD pass ratio last year and I think if given a chance he could become the first Steelers QB to throw for 30 TD's in a season. I won't be making any predictions regarding Ben breaking any of Terry's career records since its way early in Ben's career still. I think he could do it but we don't know what the future will bring. I mean what if Ben's leave via free agency when his contract is up? God I don't want to even think about it. But you never know.

anybody else think that Joey'll be 4th all time at the end of the season, and at least 3rd if he ends up staying past that dreaded 2007 offseason?

I think Joey will have around 9-11 sacks this season. So that would put him 4th alltime and right behind "Mean Joe" Greene
