Hines Ward says he wants to retire as a Steeler and that he can't imagine himself playing for another team.
We'll see if the Pro Bowl wide receiver feels that way once he's offered a contract extension. That offer will come sometime between now and the start of training camp. Last year when Ward balked about the Steelers extending the contract of then-starting quarterback Tommy Maddox, owner Dan Rooney made a promise to Ward. Rooney promised Ward that he would be a priority this year. Mr. Rooney is a man of his word, so Ward will be offered a very fair number. But, for some reason, Ward and his agents, Eugene Parker and Roosevelt Barnes of Indiana-based Maximum Sports Management, apparently are asking for a deal similar to what Marvin Harrison of the Indianapolis Colts received last year. The 32-year-old Harrison, the top target of superstar quarterback Peyton Manning, got $67 million over seven years, including what amounted to a $13 million signing bonus ($6 million last year, $7 million this year). For Ward and Barnes to think the Rooneys will pay Ward that kind of money is ridiculous. here's the rest.. http://www.timesonline.com/site/news...d=478568&rfi=6 |

Ward will get his just do..and his contract will most likely be the biggest ever in Steelers History... but Hines knows the Steelers and how they operate and the kind of money they will spend... you gotta start higher so you end up where u wanna be in the end when it comes to contracts of this caliber.

I can't see Hines in any color scheme other then the greatest ever, the B&G.
I think they'll get an extenstion banged out by the start of TC.Hines is starting high, but that's only so he can get what he deserves when the Steelers lower the price.

I think Hines deserves more and will get it...how much more, I'm not sure. I would hate to see him with any other team but us...he belongs in Pittsburgh, heck our stadium is even named after him
