Free Agency

There was a thread started back in January about FA. But as we get closer to an actual possibility of FA, we can maybe start up a new one.

I know this isn't a priority (Ike is much more of one in my opinion) but what if the Steelers went out and nabbed a 3rd down back?

Sproles an a un-Steeler-like FA pick up. He won't be huge $ but
he won't be bargain priced either. He is amazingly fast and quick
but tiny. Plus, I don't know if he's such a good fit on our sh--t field
either. This is NOT a signing that is likely to happen. We also have
Dwyer and Baron Batch to check out before we sign any FAs. Batch
could be a very good 3rd down back - he had 32 catches last year.
No reason to spend $ where we don't need to.

im much happier with mendenhall, redman and either batch or dwyer

Unless Batch or Dwyer turn it on, thats not a very good lineup of backs.

why? how many yards did moore get last year? i would much rather see redman get all the carries mendenhall dosnt get

Im really hoping we get to see alot more of redman this year. The times he was in last year he did a good job for us. I also think that with getting a few carries under his belt this year dwyer will start coming on strong. We have enough RB's, lets target the real concerns this year in FA!

Aren't we also already 10million over the cap? How do we sign anyone?

We don't even know what the cap is at this point. Need to wait
for lock out to be over first. They have plenty of things they
can move around to get lower on cap #s. That will only be a
problem if Rooneys want it to be - as an excuse to spend less,
which is something they have done in the past.
