Randy Moss Announces Retirement
Randy Moss announces his retirement from football
Mon Aug 01 01:23pm EDT
Randy Moss(notes), one of the NFL's greatest all-time receivers, will not be back for a 14th season. Adam Schefter quotes Moss' agent, Joel Segal, as saying, "After weighing his options and contemplating offers, he's decided to retire."
Moss spent last year on three teams. He started with the Patriots, was traded to the Vikings, who then released him, allowing him to sign with the Titans. It wasn't a great year for Moss, but just one year before that, he was excellent, putting up 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns in New England.
His retirement comes as a surprise. Not a shock, maybe, since last season was so disastrous, but up until just Sunday, there were rumors that the Jets were interested in his services. That fell through when the Jets signed Plaxico Burress(notes) instead, but I doubt the Jets were the only team to kick his tires. His agent's comments would seem to indicate that, too.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause and effect, but actually from a non-linear non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey...stuff.
