Really no surprise. I _knew_ this was the case before I ever
read it. I know this team, this ownership. Sad thing is, they
COULD have easily found the $ with some obvious moves
other teams make. Why didn't they? Because the Rooneys
_do_ purposely let their total salaries come up against the cap
so they have the excuse not to pay more. You don't think they
could make Smith, Foote and a few others re-do their deals
and have offered as much $ as NY did? As soon as I heard
Plex signed for $3 million, I told some guys at the gym, "I guarantee
you Pgh offered something closer to $2 million, not 3 and I bet
Pgh's deal wasn't guaranteed." And what is coming out now? That
very thing.

Imagine this team with Plex on one side, Wallace on the other.
That would have been strong. As it is now, I am not sure I like
our chances vs. NE or NY to win the AFC again. But if we got
Plex, and we could have, I would like our chances. They could have
easily found the space to sign him. But they just point at the cap
and use it as their excuse to not pay, when in fact, they could easily
make moves to find more room. Oh, and now Sanders had to have
another surgery on his foot. Not good.

Why would we pay 3 mil, guarenteed to a guy who has been out of football for 2 years and has questionable attitude?
I am glad he is with the loud mouth Jets. I have confidence our front office knows what they are doing. We have, after all been to 3 Super bowls the last 6 years without having to make this kind of signing. Desparate teams reach, I don't believe we are desparate. Sanders is injured and may or may not require surgery, I am sure someone else will step up in his place.
Just my opinion.

Im sure we will be OK and someone else will step up, they always do when we have our backs to the wall. But it still would have been nice not to have to worry about it and have Plax playing opposite of wallace! But oh well that was last week, so we can look ahead and see how things are gonna turn out. I really wanted Plax, but im over it now! Lets get ready for the SUPER BOWL!!!!

always so damn negative, act like the rooneys dont know what they are doing..3 super bowl apperances in the past 5 years ...

Umm, in case you missed it, we lost the Super Bowl last year.
And, in case you didn't realize it, REAL Steeler fans do not consider
losing the SB an acceptable thing. Follow the team for a few more
decades and maybe you will get it. Also, it's "appearances" not "apperances."

EB is obviously NOT a high school grad, yet.

How are you going to get plax the ball when Ben is running for his life because our line is in shambles? WR at this point in the game was just a luxury. We need to sure up the O-line and the secondary before we think about adding more WR's.

I agree with this opinion. I don't feel Plex is an automatic starter for us after being out of the game a while. And that $2-3M could go to perhaps sign a young OL or CB which are areas we need. Jets can have him...hopefully all the egos in that locker room will bring the team down.

So in other words, the Steelers pay their players more then they have to in order to get closer to the cap, just so they have an excuse to be cheap?

I guess the best you can do is insult me based off of one misspelling. I'll take being a college grad with a full time job and one misspelling. Its an internet forum. Relax...

"real steeler fans" aren't so damn negative either. Where did i saying losing in the Super Bowl is acceptable? We did not lose the Super Bowl cause of our wide outs.

You act like Plax would of won us the Super Bowl. Where was Plax for the last 2 Super Bowl Wins?
