Default Can Suisham Be Relied Upon This Year?

I am very pleased with the guys we got in the draft. We look to be another legitimate Super Bowl contender. However, can we rely on Suisham for the crucial kicks needed to win games this season?
Suisham played above expectations last year, but I have my doubts as to whether he can reproduce that this year. If not, he could end up being our Achilee's heal. Your thoughts...

I am of the same thought, will he be as good this year. Suishams history says he will be ok this year with a tail off coming towards the end or next season. he seems to kick well for new teams then struggle.
Let's hope he breaks that trend this year.

What choice is there? Do we have another kicker in camp?

with my wife and her family being skins fans i got to see alot of him before he came here. i might eat my words, but i was glad we signed him. Kickers are of a whole different breed than any other player. They can be the worst there is, and then BAM they are great again. I know near the end in washington he was not happy, hearing him talk he is happy with the steelers and that makes the world of difference to a kicker. I think he will be spot on for us now that he feels he has found a place to call home!!!

Heinz field is a tough place to be a kicker and he certainly kicked well last year. Not only in the FG department, but his kickoffs were 5-10 deeper than his predecessor. I expect him to be good again this year. Besides, he didn't become a tough guy by slapping around a paper towel dispenser and mouthing off to the cops in front of his drunken parents. No, he just won over his teammates on the field and in the locker room.

Don't forget that kickoffs are from the 35 now, so that is no longer as high a priority for the Steelers (which is good for Suisham since his kicks usually ended up between 3 yards in front of or inside the endzone).

Good point! Why is the NFL starting kicks from the 35 now? They don't want as many returns?

Yeah, their logic is less returns = less chance of injury. The change was cited as a player health decision.

He has stated that he doesn't like the pressure situations. He best perform.
