Default Former Bengals tight end at Steelers camp

Tuesday, August 09, 2011
By Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Former Cincinnati Bengals tight end Reggie Kelly is at Steelers training camp this morning and could be signed to compete for the No. 2 tight end spot.

Kelly, 34, played 13 seasons in the NFL, the last seven with the Bengals. He had 194 catches and 1,760 yards in his career, but he is known as a blocking tight end who is often asked to block defensive ends and outside linebackers.

More details in tomorrow's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Why are they looking at old re-treads that we don't really need and not
OTs and CBs that we desperately need?

im wondering how that would help us at all. it's not like losing spaeth was much of a loss. actually i considered spaeth leaving as an addition by subtraction thing. david johnson kind of sucks balls but he was at least better than spaeth who couldnt block OR catch

My thoughts exactly. I also considered losing Spaeth addition by subtraction.

You can find a rookie undrafted TE that is better than him, any draft. I mean,
TE who can't block OR catch is easily upgraded. Oh wait. I forgot, he
was tall.

I think it's a good thing to have some competition. Doesn't mean Kelly sticks with the team.
