Default Dorin Dickerson in for Visit Tuesday

Apparently, this guy has not performed to his perceived talent level. Projected to go in the 3-4 Rd last year, he lasted until the 7th, and now has been cut all together. He seems to have a lot of upside and position versatility, plus ran a 4.43 last year at the combine. Would love to see this guy in the B&G, even if only on the PS in place of either Grisham or McCoy, depending on which position the Steelers wish to develop him. I haven't followed his career at all, but after reading his profile on a few draft sites, he seems like an absolute stud...soft hands, speed, blocking ability, etc. Does he have a motivation problem? Anyone have an idea?

Ummmmmm, can he play corner?

Just sayin'.....

I don't get why we keep bringing in all these receivers, and yet make no attempts to get somebody to cover the other teams' guys.

I am a Pitt fan so I love Dorin Dickerson. He would be a great PS guy and hopefully he could work up to the active roster. I would applaud the signing.

hey if we have an offense nobody can stop, we really don't have to be anything more than just 'pretty good' on defense. it's another way to win games, even if it isnt the traditional steeler way

granted i'd rather have a punishing defense and ground game that can just impose its will, but in the end it just comes down to if you won or not. i'm down for anything that helps us win

With the pressure the Steelers put on opposing QBs it would be great if the Steelers had more DBs who could catch the interceptions.

they're just kickin the tires to see if he's better than what they got in reserve / practice squad.

Steelers Depot reports that former Pitt Panther Dorin Dickerson - who was cut by the Houston Texans - has been scheduled for a workout with the Steelers on Monday.

It's not far for the former West Allegheny and Pitt star to travel, and Dickerson is certainly one of the best athletes available at this time.
"Adaptability is a good ability," Mike Tomlin once said.
Dickerson played on both sides of the ball at Pitt, as a linebacker and tight end. He also played running back and return man in high school, as well as Quarterback - which seems to be a requirement to play any offensive position with the Steelers other than offensive line.
Dickerson's problem so far is that he seems to be a jack of all trades, but a master of none. The Texans tried to switch him to wide receiver this year and it didn't work out. For his entire college career, Dickerson was pegged as an enormous talent, and he played well, but never lived up to the "enormous" part of his talent. He never seemed to find the right position to play.
At 6'2" and 225 pounds, Dickerson may be a bit light to be an NFL tight end, but he runs a 4.4 40 and could be an excellent H-back. And, most of all, he could be a monster on special teams. He's not afraid to hit - or be hit.
It's no big deal for someone to work out with a team - this kind of thing happens all the time. Often, the workouts are not even announced. But Dickerson is a local guy with a ton of talent and potential. The only H-back on the PS right now is Jamie McCoy.
The special teams have undergone a major turnover, losing last year's captain KFox, and Anthony Madison. Al Everest did get to keep Arnaz Battle, and Sylvester has turned into the ace of the coverage teams, but the hunch here is that Everest is one member of the coaching staff who has an interest in taking a look at Dickerson

Those guys aren't part of the Steelers scheme. Obviously Dick LeBeau has a "no INT" policy in effect if you're not named Troy Polamalu. Crezdon Butler tried to sneak around this but got sent packing.

And, that, my friends, is what you call a MONEYBALL!! Spot on!

I just don't understand the obsession of bringing in receivers (arguably the srongest, deepest unit on the team) every week, meanwhile, standing pat with the cornerbacks(arguably the weakest, thinnest unit) that are currently on the team.
