Default My Dad

The World has changed, the community has changed but what my dad taught me will never change. My dad taught me to work hard but not so hard that I never had time with my family and friends. He never wanted me to forget where I came from. He always said go as far as you can, be the best you can be but always keep time for your family & friends. He also said, when your children come home for Christmas from their big homes driving their fancy cars you remind them where they came from you tell them that their grandpa worked alot to make all of our lives easier and because of that they got a college education.

Happy Father's Day, Dad, I miss you

OOPs forgot to add, this post was meant for all of you to add stories of what you have learned from your dad. thanks, Lyn:)

After my mom died, and my Dad's second wife died, and then after he married the bitch from hell and got divorced, I made an extra bedroom in my house and we moved him in. That was 7 years ago. He's 78 now and going strong, away at the casinos this weekend with his girlfriend!

It's not always easy, but I take pride in knowing I did for him what he would have done for me.

ive posted this a while back but it is my funniest qurky dad story, he tries to resist modernization but:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

my dad works for nasa flying satellites (giving computer commands, boosting rockets, flying over designated targets and taking pictures) i think its the ios pathefinder or something like that. if youve seen pictures of hurricane katrina before/after from space or mt. st. helens when it recently burped, he took them. he used to fly that largest telescope in space that was dumped into the ocean due to lack of funds. i saw him on cnn in the controll room during the descent :)

by no means a rocket scientist although he did work on the mx titans in the military.

ironically he recently got rid of his vcr and bought a dvd player. (the same vcr that blinked *12:00* for the past 15 years.) he never set the time on the thing.

he got and figured out how to set his answering machine several months ago, mind you it didnt have a tape, so setting it up was a little difficult.

now hes finally trying to figure out a digital camera, i just got an email photo of his back yard. i told him he can take pictures of my back yard 2000 miles away, 300 miles up, and send it to me easier than his own back yard from 10 feet away.

anyways thats our running joke that he can fly a sattelite but cant program a vcr.

old people

(update: he is getting better with his digital camera but wont bother with all the bells and whistles)
