I'm going to Pittsburgh for the revenge game against the Ratbirds with my girlfriend. It's my second time there; I went to the Broncos game back in 2006, but I was with my Dad so he pretty much handled everything.
Does anyone have any suggestions, a good, Steelercentric place to eat maybe? We are sitting in the closed end zone in the upper deck. How's the view up there? I hear it is pretty solid and that there are no bad seats at Heinz. Last time I went by coincidence we happened to meet a woman a few months before who personally knew the Whiz and she got him to hook us up with tickets on the 10 yard line, field level about 10 rows up. It was awesome, but no such luck this time. 140 a seat for two upper deckers, but that's okay. Does anyone know where the players stay the night before the game? I believe it was the Sheraton last time we went. I met Clark Haggans in the lobby the day of the game, then snuck up to the Steelers floor and came face-to-face with Alan Faneca by himself. He told me I wasn't supposed to be up here, but he was nice and signed my towel anyway. Would the players be around the hotel on Saturday? I would love to get some autographs and pictures with them. Has anyone done that recently and could tell me whats the best way to go about it? Any other suggestions you guys have, a good bar to go to before the game, where to get the best Roethlisburger and anything else, places to go, etc. etc. One aside: my two friends who go to Duquesne who I'm staying with said Ike Taylor just moved in next door to them and they were chatting with him last night, so fingers crossed for an Ike sighting. Thanks for your help, I can't wait LET'S GO!!!

I've only been out for four games, but the energy on a game weekend is by far beyond anything Philthadelphia could ever dream of (where I used to live). Finally got a chance to catch a Primanti's sandwich, which was awesome (but with terrible service). We also hit the Hofbrauhaus... which has liters of beer, so who can hate that? Station Square is always good imho... lots of place to choose from.
Some locals will probably have much better suggestions, but I don't think you can really miss during a game weekend. |

Being a proud Italian - my fam always take a couple shots of either sambuca or tuaca before we walk to the stadium (park in an old, covered garage on north shore that used to be owned by I think Wonder Bread - it is $30 to park - but we usually split it 3 to 4 ways) Great location to tailgate, right by Mickey D's and Wendy's. Walk right by some prime places to stop and play some beer pong (or bong one lol) with fellow Stillers fans, eat some peppers and sausage or wings (to start) before I get an Primanti's and some Quaker Steak wings - although their wings in Sharon are better than any other location.
Basically - if you leave without some good drinks and food you're doin it wrong! But virtually impossible to do lol Enjoy - went to the Ratbirds game last season and while it was sucked to see us fall short of 4-0 the place was electric. No other way to spend a Sunday morning/afternoon/evening
