Default 4th and 43---- wow!

Monday night, the Ravens faced a 4th and 43 against the Jaguars. First of all, that is worth noting just simply because it was Joe Flacco the Ravens.

ButÖ what is the longest the Steelers have ever faced? I donít know how to research that weird stat. Itís not on pro-football-reference, and I donít have a Pittsburgh Steeler guide book that has all those cool statistics.

I remember just last year (I think) when Ben got sacked a few times in a row and they were looking at 4th and 30+.

I remember watching a Clemson vs South Carolina game where it was 4th and goal from the opponents 49 yard line. Carolina was first and goal at the 7 or 8 yard line to start that series.

It gets to a point where you begin to wonder if they could punt for a 1st down

Thanks google:

The longest down in NFL history was in the game between the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears on Sept. 17, 2006. After jumping offsides 3 plays in a row, the lions were then penalized 4 times consecutively for holding resulting in an amazing 2nd down and 65.

They were unable to convert.

Wow. And of course it's the Lions that have the record. Good find.

I remember the Steelers having a 3rd and goal from somewhere around the 40-yard line. I believe this was O'Donnell Era. Don't remember the outcome, but I think they made it. Don't quote me on any of this. I was drunk for most of the O'Donnell years.

I remember the SB MVP dropping a touchdown pass that contributed to Ben being the suckiest QB to ever win a SB
